The Lord God has given Me
The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak
A word in season to him who is weary.
(Isaiah 50:4 (NKJV))
To The Weary One
Do you feel worn out and exhausted? Are you tired of fighting battles that feel like they will never end? Tired of waiting and watching when nothing appears to be happening? Are you afraid to admit that you are even tired of praying?
God understands, my friend.
Despite all the beauty that exists in this life; those precious moments filled with love and bright laughter, the days when you feel capable and full of faith, despite those times when you are overcome with joy and peace, there are still times when life gets really hard. When the days seem too dark.
In those moments of struggle and push and fight, you can get to the point of feeling like you have just had enough. You can start to feel so tired, so weary; mentally, emotionally and spiritually. But regardless of how exhausted or beaten down you feel you’ve got to get up. And you can get up, because God is not finished with you.
God Is Not Finished With You
Dear Child of God, sitting there feeling as if you have reached your limit and that God has reached His, know this. God is not finished with you and He has not reached His limit. There is hope in your future (Jeremiah 31:17) and there are good things in store for you; good things the Lord has laid up and prepared especially for you. (Psalm 31:19)
Right now, as the battle rages on around you, wreaking havoc on your body, mind and soul, know that things have got hard not because you are about to be defeated but because you are so close to your victory.
A great and effective door has been opened, beloved, but your adversaries are many and they do not want you to pass through. (1 Corinthians 16:9) So now, more than ever you have to keep pressing on.
Keep Pressing On
Now is not the time to give up, now is the time to get up and keep pressing on. Just as the Apostle Paul did, you must forget those things that lie behind, forget the shame and reproach, the mistakes and setbacks, and press on.
Reach forward for those things which lie ahead; those glorious and wonderful promises God has made to you, those eternal blessing He has waiting for you and press toward the prize which is the upward call of God in Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3:12-14)
God Will Do What He Says He Will Do
When your strength wanes and your faith begins to shake, doubts may start to creep in. You may find yourself questioning God and wondering whether He will come to your help or just abandon you and let you down.
You might start to wonder whether your money will come through, whether you will receive that acceptance letter, if you will get that job or the new house or whether you will start living the new life He promised you.
You will.
If God has made a promise to you, He will fulfil it. He who calls you is faithful who also will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:24) There is nothing that is too hard for the Lord. (Genesis 18:14)
The Lord who gave a child to a woman in her old age (Genesis 21:1) and who, and still does, raise the dead to life (Matthew 11:3); God who stretched out the heavens and spoke the earth into existence, He who sustains the very breath you breathe. (Isaiah 42:5) The One who did all these things will fulfil His promise to you. So don’t doubt Him. Instead, like Abraham was, be strengthened in faith.
Be Strengthened in Faith
He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
(Romans 4:20-21 (NKJV))
The father of our faith, Abraham, understood what it meant to wait on a promise from God. During the waiting he also had his fair share of hardship.
Abraham was separated from his family, lived in a tent, moved from place to place, went to battle, all whilst waiting on a promise that was made a long time ago.
Yet, he did not doubt that God would give him an heir or make him a great nation. (Genesis 15:4;17:5) He did not waver in unbelief. As the verse above reveals, he was actually strengthened in faith as he waited. He gave glory to God and was fully convinced that God would do what He had promised.
And that is what you need to do as well.
Wait on the Lord and as you do so He will renew your strength. (Isaiah 40:31) Stand firm in your faith and be strong in it. Give glory to God, thank Him and praise Him. Also, be comforted by the fact that despite all the chaos that is going on around you, God is still seated on His throne.
God Is Still Seated on His Throne
And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”
(Revelations 5:13 (NKJV))
Even now, as you feel like you cannot go on any further, like you cannot pray anymore or fast anymore or praise anymore, God is still seated on His throne. He is still in control, of your story and your destiny.
You are worn out, God knows. But you are so close to your breakthrough. It is right there in front you, so close, so do not give up. Press on, be strengthened, give glory to God because the battle is already won and the Lord will fulfil His promise to you. In Jesus name.
