God speaks through His word. More than anywhere else this is where we can go to hear God’s voice. It is through the Bible that God gives us instructions for our lives and tells us what to do. But when God speaks in His word He is not just speaking to people in general, He is speaking to you personally.
God is Speaking to You
As you read the Bible it is important to realise that all that is being said is being said to you as an individual. God is not speaking to your friend, to your parents or to your colleagues. Every promise of prosperity, peace and healing and blessing is being made to you. All instructions to give (2 Corinthians 9:7) and to give thanks are being said to you (Psalm 105:1-2). Once you begin to realise that, you need to begin moving in that truth. You need to believe it.
Believe That God Is Speaking to You
If God has said that He will bless you and make you a blessing (Genesis 12:2) and that He is taking you to a land flowing with milk and honey, believe it. (Exodus 3:17) When God says that He has healed you, (Isaiah 53:5) believe it and receive it. All His promises to you are “Yes” and “Amen”. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
It would be such a shame for you to miss out on God’s goodness; His abundant gifts and grace simply because you fail to realise that all of it is promised to you. Or because you fail to listen.
Listen As God Speaks to You
Once you realise and believe that God is speaking to you through His word, you need to start spending time actually listening to what He is saying. This is done by spending time reading the Bible.
You don’t need to waste time yelling at the sky and wondering why God has not given you a word, when He has given you the Bible which is full of His words. Words of prophecy and declaration; words of guidance and words of truth. God has given you the Word, but it’s up to you to listen to it and act on what it says.
Act On What God Speaks To You
Finally, along with believing, receiving and listening, you need to begin taking God’s Words seriously and start doing what He says. (James 1:22)
It is not enough to hear and acknowledge that God has spoken, you need to act on what He has said. The Word will benefit you in no way if you don’t begin acting on the truths and principles within it. It would be like being poor and needy yet you have thousands of dollars in a bank and are not making use of them.
God has blessed you richly (Ephesians 1:3), don’t bank your riches by reading the Word and then putting it aside, make use of your riches by acting on the Word. Act on what God speaks to you.
God loves you and cares about you. He wants you to know what He has in store for you and the promises He has made to you. But to know all this you need to believe, receive and act on all that God tells you in the Word. You need to listen when He is speaking to you.
