God is great and so is His creation
We were all made for greatness even if it is not the kind of greatness that appears in blinking lights or on the personalised number plate of a brand new Range Rover. Our greatness isn’t as typical as those kinds of things it’s more subtle, deep and beneficial as the things of God usually are. It inspires hope in others and causes us to walk confidently in our gifts towards the abundance of life which was promised.
Our greatness is seen in the unexpected and miraculous achievements we make by the grace of God.We push boundaries and set new records and the glory comes to the one who made and inspired us. I believe that every one of us reading this text has something special deeply ingrained in our smile, character, mannerisms and thought process, something wholesome and too good not to share. Here are a few ideas to help us achieve our dreams for the growth of our kingdom.
Dare to desire
If someone had told me that the reason my dream wasn’t materialising was that I hadn’t quite fully committed to desiring it I would have laughed off the idea. I was so convinced that the dream needed approval which wasn’t entirely up to me and so I would have to prove myself worthy by convincing others before I saw anything meaningful materialise even the committed desire.
So as the years went by I would talk about the fragments that I was confident enough to own and hope that the rest would be added unto me by the permission of my loved ones to succeed. It sounds noble but it’s really not because God purposes your destiny and He doesn’t do it from a place of uncertainty. He doesn’t require approval from those around us before He blesses us or takes us to a higher level.
In fact His word says that He already knows what we have need of and we only have to ask to see it granted in the physical. So good is He that He pays attention to what appeals to us and often treats these finer details as needs. The only cost to receiving is believing and that right there is why we can’t pray sometimes. Not because we don’t have needs or because we don’t know who to ask but because for whatever reason we do not truly believe God or fear has wrapped us around its little finger and we consult it over His word.
When you look at it from a worldly perspective it’s ridiculous to go down on your knees and ask for a new job when there is a 95% unemployment rate, who would pray over their lost man to be saved when he clearly passes up every opportunity to step into church with her, why would you believe that miracles can take place without a down payment into some corrupt official’s offshore account?
It surely requires a renewing of the mind, a determined acquisition of faith through deliberate placing of oneself in the house of the Lord to hear His word. The things of God confound the “wise”. Do not ever get so familiar with His goodness that the power in His word flies over your head every Sunday because you will surely tarry in the wilderness longer than necessary.
Stop asking for permission and start digging your heels in
Most of us have been taught a system of false modesty which has gradually warped into some sort of inferiority-perpetuation complex where we suppress our capabilities for fear of being bewitched or victimised or even just living up to our potential. We believe too strongly in asking permission to be who we are and those who understand this take un-repenting advantage and exploit us for all we believe we are worth.
If we were in constant fellowship with God we would not shy away from the goodness within us or even the badness and the lessons we’ve learnt from it because we would know that making something of ourselves was from Him and not from our personal brilliance. This would in turn allow us to empathise with others and appreciate their goodness because we would understand that we are not in competition but in synergy.
I’m reminded of the time Abraham was tasked with sacrificing Isaac to God and I wonder if he sat down with Sarah to discuss what her thoughts were about sacrificing the son they had gone through so much trouble to conceive. It wasn’t up for discussion it was up for obedience and Abraham went boldly trusting God and his son was ultimately spared. What has God placed on your heart? Are you still hoping to win Sarah over before you take the leap?
Stop waiting on “if” and start preparing for “when”
The word “if” exists in the realm of uncertainty making outcomes conditional whereas the word “when” implies certainty which is regulated by time. In this context let’s call “if” a friend of fear because it courts our faith and takes it away from God putting it towards a murky unknown and “when” a friend of faith because it gives us hope in waiting and inspires preparation in expectation.
What if I told you today that your break through is waiting in your preparation more than in your persistent asking of God. What if I told you that your preparation is a one-up on prayer because it’s an exercise of faith which we all know is dead without works.
Your destiny is the single most important reason for your existence..fight for it with all you’ve got because God is willing and that is why you are here today.
