The beauty about belief is that it can be chosen
When you understand that you can choose who you are and what you truly are about and that the will is yours God ceases to be a dictator instead He becomes the means by which your heart’s desires will be mutually fulfilled with His. I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about how I was ready for a change and he said “…all in God’s time…”
I know what he was trying to say and I appreciated his being there for me. In that conversation I also realised that a simple statement like that can totally go the wrong way especially if you have a tendency to shy away from decisions because you believe that God needs to give you a sign first.
Yes God’s ways are not our ways but through the bible and those who have gone before us there is a code that is consistent with His voice and our job is to learn to recognise that voice that way we can come to well informed decisions without room for manipulation from the enemy who is a master at lying, stealing and killing.
Never underestimate the value of consulting God before you make decisions but do it through consistent fellowship with Him, there will come a point where you are so in tune with His plan for you that you can pick out distractions from a mile away. As I was growing up there was a point in time where people over used the words “if God wills it/ God willing”
I’m sure the reason we don’t say it so much anymore is that we have come to the realisation that God willed us into existence in His own image no less and we have the capacity to bring His will into existence by our free will as well. We have permission to make bold decisions that produce miraculous results because of our faith in the purpose for which we were made.
Some of these scary big dreams we have are actually what God’s purpose is for us but for whatever reason we are afraid to try. We are afraid to fail as if failure is the end of our life, in some cases it is but what have you to fear when you know that heaven awaits. This is the good news that you can choose life will you are still alive and have it long after your death.
Ultimately you are an ambassador for the kingdom and all that He does for and through you is a testimony to those who are still lost and may be found through your story. Know that you have purpose before profession though you are given the room to choose the profession you desire. This profession if you have chosen it for the right reasons will come naturally to you.
People will say you make it look so easy, you will produce quality work and others will be inspired by you to the glory of God, but because we have professional choices made for us often by parents and family resources sometimes we spend an entire lifetime working a job we hate and taking it out on ourselves and others, never able to be truly happy and not understand why this is so.
Before you are a pilot or a business owner or a lawyer or even a hair stylist you are a favoured child of the most High, his goodness and mercy have ultimately been assigned to follow you so that you may dwell in His house always. The very reason you woke up this morning is that it pleased God to have you among the living today.
This is not a set formula for decisions but the wherewithal to even think along the lines that require decision is a product of God’s hand on your life. He wants you to choose life while you are alive and so He breathes life into your hopes, desires and dreams and when you know His voice you know that it will always be the one cheering you on into the light. His voice will always involve loving yourself, your brothers and sisters, seeking to do good, respecting your body, being humble enough to admit mistakes but still avail yourself to be led.
This is how I replied my friend;
“you know?..people say that as if God is responsible for their decisions..like I’m not shouting or anything but when you think about it..the talents I have come from Him and the wherewithal to want something more but I am stuck afraid to make a mistake…it’s not that I don’t have a clear direction of where I want to go..it’s that I’m holding on so tight to what I’m used to…what’s predictable and standard…whereas God wants to provide for me even in places I can’t see.
And that’s the truth for everyone out there..God isn’t holding some rigid book that defines your life..the reason He gave us free will is so that we could live the most abundant life we can using the talents He gave us for that very reason. Fear needs to get out of our lives because if you pick fear you can forget about faith but faith is what activates the power and permission of God.”
The reason our lives have gone in the direction they’ve gone so far is our beliefs. For example those of us who believe that they are no good have done accordingly by those words and the ones who have chosen to believe outside of the enemy’s lies have also done accordingly.
The problem is that when we see these people who have made the better belief choice we think it’s because the odds are against us and we secretly go green with envy yet the very same success is accessible to us at the cost of our wrong beliefs.
The question is are you bold enough to believe differently?
