Miner League ballers Andy Mineo and Wordsplayed teamed up to put out a 13 track joint mixtape Magic & Bird. The project is named after basketball legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.The mixtape which was released on the 4th of August features prominent producers like Beam and the master of boombap I`llmind and the sound shows. The quality of the beats and the sound is pretty good for a mixtape.
The skits give off the vibe of gym teachers giving life lessons to their team and this is also echoed throughout the songs as well. They do this in a fun and hip way that makes hard advice easy on the ear and this is probably because, as they say in the song Kids, they want the content to be relatable to the young people chasing their dreams.
Most of the songs are pleasantly hype and bouncy. You’ll be bopping your head a lot while you’re listening to this project even with the more serious song, Legend, which takes on a more contemplative and somber tone.A lot of wisdom bombs are dropped in the songs as hard work and perseverance among other good principles are highly promoted in the lyrics.
All in all the Magic & Bird is a well put together mixtape. The music is head “bopabble” and the content is highly motivational and encouraging. Andy and Wordsplayed really came through and delivered a very positive and good piece of art.
