In this episode we have a chat with Advocate Fadzayi Mahere about the Church’s role in politics and the election process. She shares her journey as a Christian called to politics, the challenges, the faithful hand of God and why she is passionate about positive change. Our resident theologian Shingai Kuwaza is also in the house and so we also discuss if democracy is biblical? As Christians should we participate in the election process, if so how should we decide who to vote for? How should the church help aspiring political leaders among them? What should church leaders teach and advise their congregants when it comes to politics and elections. Is it time for churches to include conferences and programs on politics and civic society as they do for business? Have listen and join the conversation

There’s a reason the church and politics are diametrically opposed in people’s minds. Think about how the church got to this part of the world.
On the other hand look at the oldest Christian church. They run their own city. Their head pontiff, the pope, is elected. They used to be thoroughly involved with how European states were run. So who says politics and religion don’t mix, even if they make strange bedfellows?
The starting point whenever we attempt to understand the relationship between politics and the spiritual church of Jesus Christ is first to determine what the purpose of God of the Bible is in the earth (which he expresses through the bible believing, born again, spirit filled believer).
The relationship of God of the Bible and politics is that of two different kingdoms.
Jesus Christ manifested to turn people from the kingdom of the world to the Kingdom of God. It is one of the reasons, in the fore-knowledge of God, why he was set-up by the Jews for crucification because he failed, in their eyes, to deliver a natural kingdom to Israel (their liberation from an oppressive Roman Empire).
All politics is a quest for liberation from one fallen system to establish another fallen system.
Politics represents and is a part of the kingdom of this world. It is a system that perpetuates and promotes the goals and aspirations of the world around us. Politics delivers a natural kingdom. Jesus himself boldly declared that “my kingdom is not of this world”. A great offense to the Jews who looked for a physical, natural messiah.
This relationship between God and politics has not changed. God still insists (by evidence of scripture) that his Kingdom is not of this world. It is possible to take what scripture says and interpret it in political terms to suit our natural preferences, but this does not make it right nor change the fundamental and eternal separation between politics and the eternal purposes of the kingdom of God.

well articulated masterpiece
THE HAS NEVER BEEN DIVORCED FROM POLITICS SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL THE TWO ARE ALWAYS INTERTWINED AND COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER ,THE BIBLE IS REPLETE WITH EXAMPLE E.G DAVID AND SAMUEL .
The politics of David and Samuel is not instructive i.e it’s not a message/an example to us to play politics, rely on politics or endorse politics. What’s written is discriptive of what happened during those times of darkness in Israel before the manifestation of the Light who is Jesus Christ.
The message of Jesus that “my Kingdom is not of this world” is what is instructive. Those that are His have separated themselves from “babylon” which is symbolic of the system of the world.
Many people make the mistake of doing things just because it is written or was done in the bible. That’s a sign of being content playing in shallow waters concerning the spiritual things of God. We aught to know what is instructive and what is discriptive in scripture.
The bible is purposeful and points to the ultimate consumation of all things which is Jesus Christ. He is the reason the bible exists, He is the reason God preserved it and allowed man to write it. Therefore in all things we must find the will of God through Jesus Christ and politics is not part of it.
