Every week we recommend a list of 5 things for you to check out. On the list is something to watch; to listen to; to read; a bible verse and something to do. Here is this week’s list for you

To Watch

This interview of Bishop TD Jakes by Steven Furtick is a must watch. There so is so much to learn from this man and his journey to get to where he is now. He drops a lot of wisdom about pursuing our dreams and callings. I hope this leave you inspired and fired up to follow the path that God has for you in your life.  Check it out here

To Listen: Bonfire- Xavier Omar

Xavier Omar formerly know as Spazzy Rocket is a very exceptional and unique vocalist from US. He released this album in 2014 and still its one of my favorite from him. The sound was well put together making a very pleasurable piece to listen to. It also a couple of really good love songs which is something that most Christian artists have not been too keen to talk about a lot so it’s good for the culture. Listen to it on apple music using the following link or look it upon on a music service of your choice.Enjoy

To Read: Don’t Follow Your Heart by Jon Bloom

If you have ever wondered if there is any merit to the popular saying, ’follow your Heart’, this book will be a good read. It considers what this statement should mean for a Christian and if we should live by it or not using scripture. Jon Bloom really went on this one and I feel this book will help many Christians navigate life well and avoid a lot of frustration and pain caused by banking our decisions based on worldly principles. Its a free Ebook so you can download it using the following link:

Bible Verse for the week

“Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble with it. Better is a dinner of herbs than a fattened Ox and hatred with it.” Proverbs 15: 16-17.
In this increasingly materialistic world we are living, its becoming easier to believe that money can solve all our problems and that if we have bricks of it we can be happy. This proverb, however, says otherwise. It points us to real value; the fear of the Lord and true Love. It is far better to have these two than to be stupid rich and miserable. It’s not better to cry in a Lambo. Don’t believe the lie.

To Do

This week, on things to do, I would like to suggest a traditional way of reading the bible. There so many bible reading plans out there that help you to go through the bible for example the read the whole bible in a year plans. However I would like to suggest something similar but different. Reading the word is good but don’t just read, MEDITATE. Take time with scripts using the following technique:
1. Pray for the Holy spirit to help you understand then read the scripture through to get an overview of what is being talked about.
2. read through the scripture again and take note of key words or words you don’t understand. then look them up on google to find out what it really means
3. take note of the context i.e when did the events take place, who is being communicated to?
4. asked yourself – “what do i learn and how does it apply in my life right now.

It will give you a deeper understanding of the word and what it means for you in your current life today. So start from the beginning, read the stories, ponder long on them and enjoy the riches that God will reveal to you.
