We have songs that made an impact on our lives at some point in time. Songs that helped us through situations, songs that we celebrated to and also songs that we just enjoyed and put on replay over, over again. For me, I have these 5 songs, at the moment.
Let me know which songs you overplayed back in the day.
Flame – surrender ft. V Rose
This is one of those tracks that I overplayed because It spoke to me about the severity of GOD. It’s a beautifully made song with great melodies from V.Rose
Json – Parent me Ft. J.R
One of my desires growing up was to have present parents. When I heard this song, I could really relate to it. We live in a world where children aren’t parented, as parents, we need to pay attention to our kids.
116 – Man up Anthem
In a fatherless society, the 116 clique had a message to all the men. This was a call for all men to be men. I loved this song because it showed me a picture of a man that is cool, respectful and has an impact.
Da T.R.U.T.H. – Who Am I
At some point in life, we are going to ask ourselves this question. Who Am I? I like how Da Truth asked this question paralleling his life with those in the bible, the good characters and the evil character alike. The combination with Tye Tribbett was so fantastic on this project.
Lecrae – Just Like you
Now I must admit that I overplayed this song. Role models are very important in life but most of the times as young men we choose the wrong models/mentors based on misconceptions about what success is. But in the last verse, we hear that we have a perfect role model. We should desire to be like Jesus.
