Every week we recommend at least five things to help you on your christian walk. On our list is something to watch, to listen to, to read, a bible verse and something to do or a habit to pick up. Here is this week’s list and the focus is on staying on course in the faith and living at your absolute best

To Watch

Heart Check // Wait ‘Til I Get My Money Right (Part 1)

The video to watch this week is a sermon by Pastor Mike Todd on giving.  We live in a world where accumulating wealth and selfishness are heavily promoted (Do what thy will) and this is affecting our lives in many negative ways. Pastor Todd’s message addresses this and a number of other things surrounding generosity for example how we often limit the word giving to finances when in actual fact it also includes giving of our time and our gifts. He also explains what Jesus meant when he said that where a man’s treasure is where his heart is. There is so much word packed in this sermon and I hope you find it edifying.

To Listen

This week we would like you to listen to this podcast interview about BJ Thompson, an American expert in people development and mentorship. In the podcast he talks about one of the most important qualities that every individual should have, self-awareness. He clearly articulate what it is and what it is not in such a way that you will be left with no doubt. Many wisdom nuggets are also drooped in this episode and I’m pretty sure that listening will give you some tools help pursue living a fruitful life.

To do

Listen to Podcasts

My recommendation for something to do this week is for you to develop the habit of listening to Podcasts. Podcasts are fast becoming one of the best ways to get information about any subject of interest. They afford you the chance to hear different perspectives from experts without actually being in the same room with them and still get that connection of a real conversation. It’s a good way to broaden your mind and explore other views and ideas about life.

The other beauty of podcasts is that you can enjoy listening to them while you are going about your normal routine. You could be driving to work, exercising in the gym, jogging or even just doing yourhouse hold chores. It’ different from books where you have tosit down and really zone in to read. So I encourage you to go online and look up podcasts about your areas of interest and begin enriching your mind with new ideas. You can even start with Radiant Culture’s weekly podcast and check out the interesting discussions the team has with various guests.

Bible Verse

Philippians 2:12 ESV

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,

In regards to our Christian walk this scripture is a very powerful one and there are two important things that it highlights. The first is that as believers we are to continue living a life of obedience to the word of God even when our teachers or pastors are not there to police our behavior. Paul encourages us to remain faithful whether people are around or not.

The second thing that he reveals to us is that our salvation is not a one day event but it is something that we will have to constantly work on with fear and trembling. So fight every day to remain in the faith by studying the word and striving to know God in prayer.
