Every week we recommend at least five things to help you on your christian walk. On our list is something to watch, to listen to, to read, a bible verse and something to do or a habit to pick up. On this week’s list we celebrate mothers day as well as give you some resources to help you answer some difficult questions about the Christian Faith

To Watch

Da’ Truth and Dr. Ravi Zacharias its Complicated

This week’s to watch is a very interesting discussion by Rapper Da Truth and Christian apologist Dr Ravi Zacharias. The two tackle some of the most difficult questions that have ever been asked about Christianity in a way that is very simple and understandable. Trust me you really want to watch this one!

To Listen

Jackie Hill Perry Crescendo album

This week’s recommendation is an album that was released on Friday last week by one of the most talented female rappers I know. Her art is just so inspiring and real. One of the most inspiring things about this album is that she recorded the whole project while she was pregnant. Enjoy this album which you can find freely given on the humble beast website (though feel free to donate and support the good work that they do).

Mom Enough: The Fearless Mother’s Heart and Hope

Seeing as this month we celebrate Mother’s Day we decided to give a recommendation that acknowledges and encourages all the mother’s out there. This is a short book that was written by four different women about their journey with day to day motherhood. Enjoy.

To Do

Sing!

Music is one of the most beautiful gifts that God has given to mankind. He intended for us to enjoy and express our love for Him and for one another. It is unarguably one of the most influential tools of communication known to mankind. A whole sermon can be preached in a 5minute song.

One of the greatest misconceptions I have come across is that we must leave singing to the gifted. Some have come to believe that because I don’t have an amazing voice singing is not for me. This is far from the truth! Of course there are gifted people in this area and we must enjoy and honor them but singing is for everyone.

When you sing praise or worship you connect with God on a level that is much deeper and more fulfilling. There is this emotional connection that happens with it that you cannot get with anything else. So, it doesn’t matter what your voice sounds like to you or to other people your God and creator values the melodies you produce, and He cherishes and enjoys them. So, sing fellow believers, sing your hearts out to your heavenly Father.

Bible Verse

James 4:10 ESV

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Pride is not the easiest thing to spot in ourselves. We often easily see it in others but seldom in ourselves. This is what makes it so dangerous. It lies deep within us hiding from plain sight. However, let us pray to God to help us see our own pride so that we can, as He has commanded, humble ourselves before the Him so that He will lift us up.
