To Do: Meditate on God’s Word

The Bible urges Christians to meditate in God’s Word day and night. When you do this you are promised good success and prosperity. (Joshua 1:8) But how exactly do you meditate on God’s Word?

Meditation is simply, repeatedly thinking over a passage or passages of Scripture in your mind.

You can start this practice by reciting Psalm 23 in your mind as you go about your day. Or perhaps just the first verse of 1 Psalm or a Scripture you have been led to. You can even start by simply repeating the phrase “Thank you, Jesus” in your heart.

Cultivating the habit of meditating on Scripture will help you mentally, emotionally and spiritually. So don’t waste time in starting this.

Doing this will help you keep your mind fixed on the Lord (Isaiah 26:3) and it will help keep you in constant prayer. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Bible Verse: Ephesians 5:19 (NKJV)

…speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord

When you sing a verse, chorus or whole song of praise or worship to God within yourself, you are making melody to the Lord in your heart. Doing this constantly will change your attitude, your character and behaviour.

This is also a great way to pray constantly and stay connected with God. If you haven’t started doing this, why not start now? See how it changes you and strengthens your spiritual life.
