To Do: Be Patient

It can be easy to become discouraged and frustrated as you seek to become more like Christ and less like yourself, especially when you feel that you keep making mistakes. But you must remember that changing is a long process that will only be completed on the Day Jesus returns. (Philippians 1:6)

It takes time to develop an ungodly character. Likewise, it takes time to develop a godly character. Therefore, you must be patient during the process.

Focus on the small victories, the little changes and thank God for them. Also trust Him to complete the good work that He has begun in you because it will be completed, if you continue steadfastly and patiently in faith.

Bible Verse: Hebrews 5:8 (ESV)

…though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered

God desires you to be obedient to Him and it is often through your most unpleasant situations that you will learn to develop such a character. Through the death of your pride and self-assurance, through enduring rejection and discomfort, you can learn to surrender your will for God’s will. You can learn to desire to please Him more than other people or yourself.

Just as Jesus did, you too can learn obedience through the things you suffer.

So as you go through trying situations, may you remember this verse and take your situation as an opportunity to grow as a Christian and grow closer to God.
