When God Seems Silent – Jon Bloom

Sometimes in life we go through a period when it seems like God is silent or He is not responding to pleas or answering our questions. It is this very issue that writer Jon Bloom addresses and he does so in a very astute and helpful way. Have a good read and let the article speak to you.

To Do

Speak

Often time as Christians, there comes a time in our journey when it seems easier and more convenient to mind our own business and ‘lay low’. We don’t want to offend anyone or appear nosey and judgmental so we keep what we know to ourselves and let others do the talking. Even sharing the gospel becomes way too taxing we would rather just chill in our own spaces and just learn from those who have been called to do the work. It’s easier.

However the truth of the matter is, we are not only called to hear and do the word but to also share and teach others what we ourselves have been taught. That is the great commission to which we have all been called, Matthew 28:16-20. We cannot fall into the trap of becoming complacent and start going by what is comfortable. Everything we have been taught is not only for ourselves to enjoy but it is meant for us to share with others. So be bold and brave enough to get out of your comfort zone and share the good gifts that have been entrusted to you by God.

Having encouraged you to speak I must also warn you not overdo it. You cannot just shove the word into people’s faces any way anyhow. There is a time and a place for everything, so it is important to know the appropriate words and time to speak otherwise you might end up doing more harm than good. Whatever you say must also be said in the spirit of love with a genuine desire to help and edify the next person. Be bold. Be brave. Speak the word without fear but do it wisely discerning the time and occasion as you are led by the Spirit.

Bible Verse

Psalm 32:8 New International Version (NIV)

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

Whenever you feel lost or confused about which way to go in life meditate and lean on this promise that our loving father has made to us. Pray and ask Him for guidance and he will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. Just make sure to obey when He reveals the way to you.
