To Do: Listen to Wise Counsel

When you become a leader, you will receive a lot of advice from your colleagues, friends and your higher-ups. But you won’t be able to implement all of the advice you receive. Nor should you try to.

Don’t be quick to try please people or favour your friends. Instead, examine every piece of advice you are given against God’s Word and see if it lines up. Also, ask God for discernment and the ability to hear the word of truth. If the advice is suitable, listen and follow the wise counsel.

Bible Verse: 2 Timothy 2:24 (NKJV)

And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient…

As a leader, you are also a servant. Not only to the people you are leading but a servant of God, who must do His will.

This verse gives an outline of the type of characteristics a servant of the Lord  should have. Those are gentleness, patience, the ability to teach and not being quick to quarrel.

So as you step into a leadership role, whether big or small, keep these in mind. Ask God to develop these characteristics in you and help you to be a godly leader.
