To Do: Talk to God
Disappointment. Sorrow. Anger. Fear. Doubt. All of these are emotions that many experience in the aftermath of unanswered prayers. All of these emotions can draw us away from God if we let them.
But instead of allowing them to do that, in the wake of unanswered prayers talk to God. Draw closer to Him in your sorrow and fear, in your doubt and disappointment. Ask Him the hard questions and allow Him to answer you in His time.
All the while, don’t forget the truth about who He is. A truth that is not determined by whether or not we get what we pray for.
Bible Verse: Job 13:15 (NKJV)
Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
At his lowest moment, when death was a very likely possibility, Job declared that even if God were to kill Him…he would still trust in Him. Would we do the same?
After being disappointed when our will was not done? After not getting what we wanted or expected, would we still boldly declare that we trusted God?
I pray so.
As you meditate on this verse, may God enlighten your eyes to see you goodness in the face of unanswered prayers and disappointment.
