Are you ready to give up?

Have you been an underdog for so long that you’ve started to question whether anything good will ever come out of your life? Have you been kicked while you were down by the very people you trusted to help you up? Has everyone else in your age group even the sketchy person gone on to do better than you? Do you find yourself frequently compared at your worst to others at their best?

This is the perfect recipe for discouragement, and I wouldn’t judge you if you were ready to throw in the towel. It’s a sorry place to be and so easy to get sucked into the whirlpool of death and all his friends. Those guys don’t discriminate, they are always looking for another life to end at the party. Don’t let that life be yours here are three reasons why I’m asking you to hold on just a little longer.

  1. Your situation is not as helpless as you think (you + God = Majority)

Did you know that people with great destinies almost always start disadvantaged? In fact, smooth sailing is more of the exception than the rule. Look at it this way, the day its known that you stand for something greater than yourself a target appears on your back and you pop up on the enemy’s radar. Remember there is no greater hater than he but we always seem to overlook this in our trials.

We also overlook the fact that our lives are not our own, we didn’t just emerge from the dust, it was God’s work and when God begins a work, He intends to see it through. Hang in there, hold onto God with your teeth if you must, because He will never forsake you (Psalm 37). Keep following Him because He will never abscond the Shepherd’s seat (Psalm23) and rely on Him for protection because He will defend you even against yourself (Psalm 91).

  1. Check your perspective it’s probably been poisoned

Sometimes we get into toxic ways of thinking and its influenced by our environment, the people we hang around or live with. Before you decide to give up just ask yourself if this is really what you want to do? Give yourself time to examine your heart, talk with God about it and see if you have peace about the decision. I could try to give you a model answer on how to live your life but I’m also learning that God has a plan for everyone and if we get tangled in how it happened for other people we may miss out on our own journey. I’m surprised almost daily by how differently my life is turning out

Worldly society will always expect you to fit into its box. It will give you pop culture and generic guidelines founded on a flawed system so that you will never be who God made you to be.

The beauty however about enquiring from The Source is that He isn’t ready to throw you under the bus for his own fears and insecurities. Worldly advice doesn’t work for you because it wasn’t made with your unique solution in mind.

  1. Somebody CAN save you

“…Somebody save me!! Let your warm hands break right through and save me…” – Save me by Remy Zero (Smallville season 1 soundtrack). This was an epic soundtrack choice the way it captures the singer’s complete submission to this anonymous saviour whoever it’s going to be, He doesn’t care who, just knows his life depends on it. I’ve always wondered what inspired the song because there’s an unmistakable cry for help there.

What if we trusted God enough to call out to Him like that? Like our lives depended on it because they really do. There are some things in life that are going to befall you just because of the size of destiny on your life and only He can turn them around for your good.

Don’t let go of God. I’m learning how to hold on to Him more firmly this time because I’m tired of trying to do this by myself my enthusiasm just doesn’t stretch that far. I’ve tried and tried and TRIED some more but I’m ready to put my burden down and hide in Him. Are you?
